A Look at Stone Shell
The purpose of this ritual during a naming day, is to fill the
child's life with warm wishes and hopes for the future.
This ceremony involves either stones, rocks, pebbles or shells.
These are given to the guests at the commencement of the ceremony,
and the guests are asked to hold the stones, rocks, pebbles or
shells closely, and to close their eyes.
While they have their eyes closed, they are asked to fill the
stones, rocks, pebbles or shells with love, warmth, hope and prosperity,
whilst thinking about the life ahead for the child at the centre
of the naming day.
At the completion of the ceremony, the stones, rocks, pebbles
or shells are collected, and placed in a glass bowl or vase. They
are then place in the child's bedroom, or somewhere in the house
