What is a Naming Day Ceremony? What is a Naming Day Ceremony?

Naming day ceremonies offer an alternative to religious baptisms or christenings, and are most commonly celebrated when a child is between the age of 3 months - 12 months.

Baby Naming Day ceremonies also provide a mechanism by which parents, family and friends can join together in a social event, to publicly acknowledge (and pay respects to) the life of their child.

The ceremony should last about 20 minutes.

Are there any Legal Requirements? Are there any Legal Requirements?

No, Naming Day ceremonies are not legally binding, and are performed as a voluntary secular service only.

However, it is common to nominate 'supporting adults' or 'mentors' (similar to denominational godparents), for your child. The mentors will usually speak during the ceremony, and acknowledge their eternal supplementary support for the child, when and if it is required.

At the conclusion of each ceremony, Tim presents each client with a record or transcript of your Baby Naming Day ceremony, as a memento of the event.
